The 2018 Kate Awards

This week we awarded the 2018 Kathleen Walsh Richardson Citizenship Awards, a.k.a. The Kate Awards, to a fantastic group of high school students here on the Eastern Shore.  These young folks were awarded for their volunteerism, citizenship, and community involvement in the memory of Kate Richardson, a founding member of No Limits who was an extremely active volunteer herself.  Featured below are pictures from the 2018 Kate Awards Ceremony.

Emily is a very active volunteer in the community.  She has volunteered for a number of community service projects through her school’s BETA club, assists in the summer months at the Rock Church’s Vacation Bible School, and volunteers actively at the hospital as she works towards her goal of becoming a nurse.  Great job Emily!

Courtney Floyd and Anna Wallace have also been announced as Honorable Mention Recipients of the 2018 Kate Award but were unfortunately unable to make this week’s awards ceremony.  We looking forward to meeting these young ladies and awarding them their prizes in the very near future!

Karyssa is an extremely dedicated community volunteer.  As the Vice President of Hoof Beats by the Beach 4H Club, Karyssa has worked on several community service projects including cultivating and donating vegetables to the hungry as well as collecting pet food and supplies for the local SPCA annually.  Karyssa also volunteers with the Chincoteague Fire Department and assists with their Community Carnival as well as the Pony Swim and Auction on Chincoteague each year.  Over the holiday season, Karyssa worked with her mother and local Hospice Coordinators to collect and wrap Christmas gifts to be given to local families in need.  Karyssa truly exemplifies what it means to be a great citizen.  We are honored to congratulate her as the 2018 Kate Award First Place Winner!
