Peggy Rice of American Primate Haven in Onancock came to give us a lesson on monkeys!Zel was excited to meet a new friend and to learn about primate safety!We really enjoyed your lesson Peggy! We are excited to make the monkeys at her sanctuary treats each month like we do for the SPCA and Animal Control. Monkey treats! Thanks Zel!Brandon and Kyle went to the Integrating Specialty Crops & Livestock Management event at Perennial Roots Farm. They made a queso dip for the potluck lunch that was held after the event. We cultivate spearmint plants in partnership with Intrepid Home Health to be used as therapeutic house plants for hospice patients in our community!Isn’t this a cool way to re-use mason jars? We are experimenting with making our own terrariums and hope it works! Amy decorated her terrarium with 2 birds who she named Mary and Joe!

We are sad to see him go but wish him all the best in his new home! Amy and Sherry say “this isn’t goodbye, it’s see ya later!” Good luck Eddie!!Betsy Pinder gifted us our very own singing bowl! Betsy uses a singing bowl to begin and end our in-chair exercise group. The ringing of the bell helps us to remember to focus our minds and bodies on the moment of now. It is very peaceful. We call them “Faith & the Girls”! Hahahah, and Brandon is their #1 fan! Just kidding. We had a great time picking out tunes that we all knew and trying to remember the words without looking! We are very grateful to the Eastern Shore of Virginia Community Foundation for supporting our Productivity & Sustainability Project – including the sturdy new coop and secure chicken yard that these youngsters just moved into!One of our Naked Neck Turkens exploring her new home. Please stay tuned to our blog to learn more about our “Naked Neck Naming Contest” to be announced soon!Paschall, Mueller, Henny, and Penny (our 4 older hens) were very curious to meet their new “sisters”!On their 2nd morning the new babies were cautious to leave their new chicken “mansion”.The older hens said “come on out there’s lots of goodies in the sand to peck at!”Venturing out!We used food to coax them out. Amy says “It sure did work!”Mid-flight! These young ladies sure can fly, fly, fly!The 3 Musketeers back at work! Time to clear the boxes for spring planting!Kyle and DJ planting lettuce seedlings donated to us from Laurice Hohlt! Thanks Laurice!
