Brady Gibbons was a Sophomore in his homeschool program when he was awarded as one of the four first place winners of the Kathleen Walsh Richardson Citizenship Award in 2020. Brady exemplified being a great citizen of his community by volunteering in many different ways. He helped to run a youth church program known as “Junior Church” with his church Zion Baptist Church. Brady also has helped to organize and run three community Vacation Bible Schools with Zion Baptist Church, ACTS Church, and Island Baptist. He volunteered to assist with Operation Christmas Child where boxes of necessities were sent to children in need both within the United States as well as other countries, he also volunteered for a number of community events to benefit the Accomack-Northampton Pregnancy Center in Onley, Virginia. Brady also assisted his family with their own charitable event of giving that they have titled “25 Days of Acts of Kindness”. Those volunteering activities included donating goods to the SPCA of Accomack County, volunteering with the Manna Café, a free lunch located on Chincoteague Island that helps to feed those in need throughout our community, and ringing the bells for the Salvation Army.
